When the twin was added in the movie, it gave the watchers the questions of, "Why did the boy die?" and also "Who is going to be the next chief of the Maori Tribe?"
I think that the point of adding a boy was to illustrate that Koro wanting a boy by how he almost ignored Kahu and was still mourning over the dead boy.
Ya I agree with Nefertiti. Koro was hoping that Porurangi would have a boy and he got one, but it died so that made Koro even madder because he was probably wondering why Kahu couldn’t be the one to die.

ReplyDeleteI was told a recap of that part; it seemed like they had the boy die to give Koro somewhat of a reason to make him dislike Kahu.
