Ishmael's uncle

Considering what we’ve learned about African culture, how does Ishmael’s experience at his uncle’s home fit in?

  1. His life with his uncle is closest thing to a normal life hes had since he fled Mattru Jong and lost his family.

  2. Ishamel's experience with his uncle at his home is probably just the life of the few. There are only so many large cities in Sierre Leone, I think, so whoever has a city life is pretty much just the tip of the iceberg. So the rest of Sierre Leone is living a life completely different.

  3. The way they live is African culture. They walk to most places in Sierre Leone. You would see woman carrying things on their heads. At Ishmel's uncle's home they eat many of the foods, most African people eat.
