Cousin

Do you understand the cousin's choice to split from the group and try to find her mother? Why does Molly first go on without her, but then return?

  1. I could understand why she split from the group. Imagine never seeing your family again you would have an urge to go and find them too. Gracie might have gone because she wanted to make sure she saw her mom before they caught her. I think Molly went back because she felt guilty leaving Gracie on her own. Also Molly might have known that Gracie couldn't survive without her.

  2. Yes I understand the cousin’s choice to split up and go find her mom.
Molly first goes on without her because she wants to get to her mom, but then she feels bad and decides to go and find the cousin.

  3. I understand Gracie's choice. The trio of girls had been walking for days in the grueling hot desert with little food and water. The man who told them that Gracie's mother was waiting for her at the train station convinced Gracie perhaps because she maybe never met somenoe before that lied. Molly left Gracie behind most likely thinking that Gracie would eventually follow. Molly returned when she realized Gracie wasn't going to come without persuasion.

  4. I think that she split from the group because she wanted HER mother instead of her aunt. i think that Molly left without her because she thought she would come back eventually. Molly probably goes back to her cousin because she's the oldest and feels like she should take care of her and make sure she's o.k.

  5. I think I could understand why Gracie split too. True, you have a bond with your aunts, uncles, and cousins, but at the same time you have a stronger bond with your parents. Yeah, you love your relatives, but your parents you love just a little bit more (most of the time). So she chose her course, and then she went. Then Molly realizes this and tries to go back and convice her, but she is too late.

  6. I completely agree with Julia. As soon as Gracie heard that she could reach her mom, I think that was pretty much all she thought about. She didn't really think about her safety, just finding her mom. Molly and Daisy leave without her, thinking Gracie would eventually come back, but after a while, Molly realizes, since she's the oldest, that Gracie is her responsability and she should take care of her and make sure she doesn't get caught.

  7. I do understand that Gracie goes back and finds her mom. If I was lost in the middle of the desert being chased by crazy people, I would want my mom too. I think the reasong Molly left before was so that she didn't lose her dignity, but then she realizes she did the wrong thing. Even though Gracie left, she was still family and they were in that mess together.

  8. I would never leave the group, even if I thiought I had a chance to find my family. I would've gone with Molly and Daisy to find their parents then when we were their I would have their family come with me to find my family. I could never stand running aound alone searching endlessly to find something. especially because they had a slim chance of ever getting home.

  9. I completely agree with alli! I feel the same,I would need someone with me, for the support, and to ensure that we will always be together. I would feel safer being with Molly since she is also older. I understand why Molly did not immediately follow, maybe she thought Gracie would eventually follow, or she thought they would get caught easier. I understand it,and i agree with the choice Molly made.

  10. I understand why Gracie went on her own. I see why she did it, because imagine never seeing your family again but knowing you maybe could have seen them. Molly went back I think because she felt guilty.
