The Long Journey

The girls risk their lives to go home. Was it worth the risk? Would it have still been worth the risk had one or all of them died on the journey?

  1. Yes I believe that the journey was worth it. Most of a human's reason to live lies within the feeling of belonging. Without family most people cannot live on, just because they know that they are alone. And sadly yes, if only even one of them survived it would have been worth it. Staying with your family increases a person's long term mental health.

  2. I think it was worth the risk. If Molly didn't take that risk, she wouldn't have known if she could make it or not. The girls new it was dangerous when they decided to leave. If it wasn't worth it, Molly wouldn't have left again.

  3. Yes, I think they made the right choice because their culture and lives were at stake. They would have been mentally and emotinonally stable with their family. Also if one of them died at least they would have been together.

  4. I agree with both Poncho and Jenny (:. I believe that if I were in their situation, it would be worth it to risk your life to find your family. I think that if they didn't escape, the would probably regret it later in life. They would wonder of what would have happened if they've taken that chance.

  5. I think it was worth the risk but it would not be worth the risk to lose someone. Everybody worked together and were great sisters. losing a sister would be like losing your heart. You have grown close to that person and can't let them go.

  6. I think they did the right thing by taking the chance, partly because yes, they wanted to be with their family. Also, though, it proves to the white people that they were clever enough to make it all the way home without getting caught. I doubt that many of the white people could have done that and made it home alive.

  7. I think it would have been worth the risk even if they lost someone because then they would still get to their family, and that is the most important thing.

  8. Yes, it was! It would have been a good risk, if I was forced to live somewhere I didn’t want to I would surely run away. I think it would still have been a worthy risk if one or all of them died because it would be to have freedom and be with their families.

  9. I think it was 110% worth the risk. Even if one or two of the girls had died, I'm sure the last one that did survive would get past it and be happy she was home. If I had to stay at the "school" I would get depressed and would wish for my life that I had escaped and gone home. I would have eventually escape and go home because I would be nothing without my friends and family.

  10. It was definately worth the risk to run away from that camp. If they would've stayed, they wouldn't have seen their families ever again. Even if they died, they would've at least put up a fight. They didn't give up. I would've done the exact same. I probably wouldn't have made it though, because im not good at hiding.

  11. It was totally worth the risk to run away. If they would have stayed their bleifs and traditions would be brainwashed from them. If they would have died it still would be worth it, because someone would have done something to change that terrible thing.

  12. I agree with the rest, because the reason for belonging is worth most to everyone, and without that belonging people seem to die off alone. Plus I think it was worth taking the risk of getting out of that prison they were in.

  13. I honestly do not think it was worthe the risk of loosing their sister Gracie. It was not Gracie's mother and I think Molly was making the decision for all of them without having Gracie and Daisy have any say in the matter. Gracie and Daisy were fine with the camps the British people had set out for them. I also think that Molly had good intentions and didn't plan on loosing one sister and that had made her loose hope. Now many Aboriginal children have them same amount of chance at freedom.

  14. I think it was well worth it! They lost all their culture they would have lost all their culture, family, ability to think for themselves! To me those things are very important! i would risk my life to get all that back! Also if they wouldn't have left they would have lived but not happily! I would rather risk everything for happiness than live my whole life unhappy!

  15. I think that it was worth the risk completely. if they hadn't gone home then they wouldn't have really been living anyways. they would've lost their culture and religion. If I were them, I would risk my life just to get it back too.
