Afghanistan

Latifa feels the world doesn't support the innocent citizens Afghanistan. How did you feel when you read some of her comments about this? Did they anger you? Did they make you want to do something? Did they make you feel defensive? Explain your thoughts.

  1. Well I don't think it's fair to take away the right of learning from Latifa. I do agree that Afghanistan does not support the citizens. The Taliban will hurt innocent people either because of a law that doesn't make sense to anyone except them or because they enjoy seeing good people die. Before i read this book I wondered why we were even in war with them but the soliders there are trying to help the people. All I hope is that someone can take out the Taliban because they way of life Latifa is living is not fair.

  2. I think I would be a little defensive because the U.S.A. did try to help Afghanistan and still is. Her comments did not anger me, but it did make me want to nuke the Taliban. I wish we could some how defeat the Taliban permanately, but they know how to use their landscape for war, and this is how they keep beating us. I don't think we can win this war by ourselves, but we might as well keep trying. That's my opinion.

  4. I agree with Ben. I almost feel sorry for her because she is in a world of pain and agony caused by the Taliban and no one will help them and they can't do anything about it.

  5. I felt a little bit defensive because she was accusing the US of not helping, and she spoke like it’s the whole country's fault. I agree with Ben because I do feel awful reading about what she went through.

  6. I didn't really feel any type of way persay, but I understand that at times when things aren't going your way, you're going to blame everything and everyone. You feel like the whole world is the blame for all of your troubles and if we ask Latifa about why she blames the world, right now her answer would probably be different and she might not even blame the world anymore. At that time it seemed like the safest thing to do is blame others. I believe the US helps when they're not wanted but don't help when they are and it's kind of hard to communicate with the Afghanis when the Taliban took away every means of communication.

  7. I was at first kind of mad a little bit, but then if you think about it more, you realize that she does have a point. In the beginning, we didn't support Afghanistan as much as we could/should have. So it all depends on how you look at it, which side you're on.

  8. It made me feel sorry for them, how the taliban shut out any hope for them. The taliban was taking away the worlds right to know what is going on.
