Dynamic or Static

Would you consider Latifa to be a dynamic or a static character? Give support for your answer. In what ways does she grow/change or not change?

  1. I think Latifa is kind of dynamic. At the beginning of the book, she doesn't really notice all the good privelages she has in her life that some others don't have, like freedom and an education. But towards the end of the book, after the Taliban has been there for a while and limits women of their rights, Latifa realizes how great her life really was before the Taliban came and how lucky she had been.

  2. I think Latifa is definitely dynamic. In the beginning of the book, all she could worry was about her writing and the dress she was supposed to pick up for the wedding. Towards the ending, she didn't think that mattered. She just wanted to live like a human. To make her own decisions, and to choose what she wanted to wear. She cared about all the little things in life she took for granted. She couldn't even go outside to get fresh air without being frightened.

  3. I have to agree with Jenny and Katiebear. I think that Latifa is a dynamic character. In the beginning she has freedoms and got to wear makeup and choose what she wanted to wear. In the end all she asked for is what most americans already have.
