Novel Ending

At the end of the novel, the decision is made for Latifa, her mother, and her father to leave for Paris. Was it a wise choice for her father to go?

  1. I dont think it was a good choice for him to leave. Although Daoud is still in Afghanistan her sisters may not be able to go to places as often. He is a main source of income for the whole family.

  2. In my opinion, I think his decision to go was a wise one, because if he didn't, the Taliban may have forced him out of the house when they came, and when the security guard at the airport stopped them, he may have become suspicious of the two women travelling alone without a male relative.

  3. I really agree with QuiteKid. Even though they had to leave the sister and the brother, but if Latifa and her mother were asked why they were by themselves without a male relative they could have been beaten or worse killed!

  4. I also agree with QuietKid because if two women were travel across the country, it probably wouldn't be safe for them without a male escorting them. The fact that the taliban raided their house and destroyed all of their mementos probably means that if he stayed he himself wouldn't be safe.
