Torn Invitation- Harry

What is it finally that makes Harry realize that he is making a mistake about his mother?

  1. Harry is making this big deal about not bringing his mother to the open house. He has done so many things just to stop his mother from coming. He then relizes is it really worth it? Do I judge my friends parents? He figures that he should be proud of his mother, and real friends wouldn't make fun of his mother.

  2. I think as soon as he hears one of his friends say that his mother was dead he realizes that his mother has always been there for him and loved him. Right after he hears this, he begins to have flashbacks about his mother and the things she did to watch him. I think he gets nervous that his mother died when she doesn't answer the phone and this makes him realize life is to short to make mistakes about people because of their looks. I think he also realized his mother loved him because she alctually tried to hide herslef from view when she knew he wanted her to. That's my opinion.

  3. It was when Chuck answered Harry's question inquiring if Chuck was going to Mamma's Day at school. Chuck told Harry that his mother was dead and left. After Chuck said that, it struck Harry that he was wrong to try and hide his mother from everybody, and more wrong to tear up his mother's invitation to go to the event at school.

  4. After one of his team mates on the baseball team was talking about how his mother is dead. Harry then soon realized that he was lucky enough to have his mother alive and he should love her and appreciate her more, even if she isn't like the other mothers.

  5. I agree with IJN7. I think he was wanting to ask his mom all along, but just didn't want her to embarass him. When he heard his friend say that his mom was dead, Harry realized that, even though his mom might be kind of embarassing at times, it was better than having no mother at all. Harry finally realized that his mother had known all along that he was embarassed of her, and tried to please him by hiding herself from Harry's friends. Harry's mother would love him no matter what, and Harry knew that from then on he would do exactly the same.

  6. I think that when he finally figures out how horrible he's been to her he figures that she's still his mother and that he can't avoid her forever. Yay.

  7. He realized he was making a mistake about his mother when he was alone in the locker room because everyone else was in the cafeteria spending time with their family and peers. He felt lonely and realized he shouldn't be ashamed because nobody else was.

  8. He finally realized that even though she may be different, she was still his mom, and he couldn't do anything to change her. He also realized that he loved his mom enough not to care that she was different.
