"End of Skill" ending

After reading "End of Skill," we discussed whether or not Jimmy would return to his old ways, or if he would reform after seeing his father hurt so deeply. Explain what you think and what evidence do you have that supports your answer?

  1. I think Jimmy won't do what he did again because he saw his father cry for the first time and that really hurt Jimmy.

  2. I think that Jimmy would reform, not just because he saw how hurt his father was, but because he was hurt too. In the text, it said that Jimmy was also hust when he saw the kente cloth, made in his father's shop, lying on the floor.

  3. I don't think that Jimmy would sell the kente cloth like he did before. I don't think he would because he saw how sad it made his dad. He may continue to sell the kente cloth but not like how he did in the story.

  4. I agree with Bri. Because for the first time, Jimmy saw his father cry, he probably won't do it again.

  5. I don't think Jimmy will do the same thing again. Not only because he saw how hurt his father was, but because he was also hurt. I don't think he liked feeling like that.

  6. I don't think Jimmy will do it again and not just because of his dad, but because of the way the ambassador used the Kente cloth. If he did it again the Kente cloth could be used in ways just like that, or worse, all over the world.

  7. I believe that Jimmy would never do what he had done again. I think at the end he relizes what he did was wrong. He sees his father cry for the first time. When he sees this, I think that he relizes his feelings and does not like how they feel.

  8. I think that Jimmy will never sell or represent the kente cloth like he did because seeing his dad cry made Jimmmy feel really bad about what he did.

  9. I don't think Jimmy will do it again after seeing the hurt it had done to his father. He also felt hurt after seeing the cloth lying in his father's shop.

  10. I think that Jimmy will eventually go back to getting money that way, but not for awhile because of how deeply his father was hurt.

  11. I don't think that Jimmy will return to his old ways because he had seen how hurt his father had been and Jimmy had also felt bad about what he did.

  12. I don't think Jimmy will make the same mistake again because he now realized how important it was to his father and thats why his dad cried in the end.

  13. I don't think Jimmy will do it again because he saw how bad it hurt his father and how much tradition matters to their family.

  14. I think that Jimmy won't do it again because he saw how the people he sold the kente cloth to used it wrong and he saw his father cry.

  15. I think Jimmy won't go back to his father's ways. I don't think this because he said he didn't want to be like his father in the beggining of the story.

  16. I think that Jimmy won't return to his old ways. He was about to see his father cry and it hurt him to see the kente clout used as a rug by the ambassador. Also Jimmy knew what he did was wrong so i think he won't sell kente in the markets any more. He may try to stop the other stands selling the kente as well.

  17. I think Jimmy won't represent the Kente cloth in rude ways again because he saw how sad that his father was. Another reason is beacause when the Ambassador laided the Kente cloth on the floor Jimmy felt really bad because he knew how much work went into making the cloth. I think that he will feel bad from now on when the Kente cloth is used it wrong.
