Ilunga's Harvest

America is proud to be capitalist. It means that the "average Joe" can become quite successful financially. Mikel desperately wants to teach Ilunga that his hard work can pay off, but it means teaching Ilunga to be more of a capitalist. Does Ilunga make the right decisions?

  4. I dont think Ilunga made the right decision by giving away his fish. He went with all of the money he had left to try to get his wife back and in the end, everything worked out.

  5. I felt Ilunga didn't make the right decision giving his harvest away. It was his fish, and he went through all the work just get money.

  6. I don't think that he made the right decisions because he worked so hard and he should have kept all the fish and sold it so he could get his wife back.

  7. Yes. Ilunga's people are not capitalist, and they probably never will be. Their way of life is different and it works for them.

  8. I think Ilunga should have kept all of the fish. He worked really hard to get all of the money to get his wife back.

  9. This is a really hard decision that plagues many small business owners in America, as once at the corporate level, charity is all but non-existent. My mother owns a home business and I have felt frustrated when she works hard and then does not get paid.

  10. I believe Mikel made the right decision to help the tribe. If he didn't help them they might not be in good shape right now. He did a nice thing not a bad thing.

  11. I think that Ilunga should have shared some but not as much as he did. He also made the right decision because he just wanted for his village to succeed.

  12. I don't know if Ilunga did the right or wrong thing. It depends who's eyes your looking through. Through Ilunga's eyes, I think he felt that he was doing the right thing. He was helping his family, friends, and neighbors. Through my eyes, I think that what Ilunga did was the wrong thing. He could have given less fish to people or just said no. But I can't judge Ilunga for what he did. All I know is that he did what he felt he needed to do.

  13. I sort of think Ilunga did the right thing becuase he was thinking of others not himself. And here in america not many people think of sharing. I thought Ilunga should have got all of the fish because he worked HARD for it, then the people who doubted him took his fish. To me that's not right but Ilunga did do the right thing.

  15. It's good to share and it is a very moral thing, but he does need to make sure he has enough to live off of too.
