Ilunga's Village

Students last year thought the village was being greedy by helping themselves to Ilunga's harvest. However, someone pointed out that Ilunga would have wanted the village to help themselves. What do you think?

  1. i think it depends on what kind of person the main character is. Illunga is a kind and giving person so i think he would have wanted it, but if the main character was very greedy i could see the story being a lot different. Nobody would have gotten fish and Illunga would have kept all the pay and gotten his wife back.

  2. I think if he gave out just a few fish to a couple friends and family members it would be ok. But he gave almost all the fish away to people he doesn't even know very well and because he did that now he doesn't have enough money to get his wife back.

  3. I think that the village was being greedy taking ten fish all to themselves. They didn't help Ilunga with all the hard work, so I don't think that it is fair that they just walked up to Ilunga and took the fish from his hands. I think that they could of at least help him harvest them, or given him the scraps of food instead of him doing all these crazy things for them.

  4. I think it was a very noble thing of Illunga to do, but the village slightly took adventage of him.

  5. I think that llunga was being nice when he gave his fish away. But i think he might have been to nice and gave to many of his fish away because now he cant get his wife back until next harvest.

  6. I think because Ilunga wanted the village to take what he had because he was the cheif and the cheif is supposed to take care of the village. Although they should not have made fun of him for his decision.

  7. I think that Ilunga did what he thought was right for his village and he does what he does nobody can change that. If he gives away all his fish, thats his choice.

  9. I think Ilunga did what was right. The rest of the villiage didn't have fresh meat, and he had plenty. They could have taken less.

  10. I think the village was being greedy because you wouldnt just show up to a house and ask for food. I would give the people fish but enough so I have some left over for my family.

  11. I think he was being genorous and wanted to help the village, but he could've kept more to himself. I think the villagers might have been a little greedy taking all the fish from him.

  12. I think both. The villagers would have gone up and asked for fish and illunga would have given everyone fish no matter what happened.

  13. Generosity is nice when something is offered, but to just assume something will be given to you is rude. The villagers should have asked for fish, or waited for it to be offered to them. They would have gotten the fish, but by waiting they would not have seemed so impertinent.

  14. I think the villagers were a little greedy but they could've got some fish, but I think they took too much.

  15. I think he gave the fish away, knowing that it was for his wife, because he is a good person and cares about everyone in the village. Though I think the villagers were a bit greedy, and shouldn't have taken as many fish as they had.

  16. I thought that the villagers were being selfish by just taking 10 fish all to themselves when they didn't even help him by making the pond or anything like that. If they were to help him provide all the fish then it would've been a different story.

  17. I think that they were being greedy and selfish to a point, because Ilunga did all that work and none of the other villagers heled him. Also, Ilunga didn't do anything about them taking all his fish so I don't think it was all their fault.

  18. I think that Ilunga is just a giving person and no one can change that about him. He never asked for help on the pond, and I believe that most of the villagers thought that he didn't want help. It seems to me that it made Ilunga happy to see the villagers taking and appreciating his harvest, so he didn't ask them to take less fish.

  19. I think that the village people were being greedy. They knew that Ilunga needed the money to get his wife back. Yet at the same time, they would probably return the favor.

  20. I think that Illunga is just a genorous person. He wanted people to take the fish, but I think giving almost all his harvest was not smart, because he lost alot of money and, wont get his wife back.

  21. I think Illunga was doing the right thing for letting the villagers take the fish. He should have gave the villagers less so he caould make more money.

  22. I believe that Ilunga was very generous knowing what would happen after the harvest. He knows that the village is hungry and knows that he must share. But my theory is since they tasted it they would want more therefore making more fish pits.
