Novel Ending

The ending of the novel is incredibly powerful. At seven years of age, Ishmael had an answer to the monkey dilemma, although he never shared his answer with anyone until now.

In your opinion, why does Ishmael end the story here? Do you think Ishmael is happy with how he has chosen to live his life? Do you think Ishmael could have made different choices?

  1. I think he ended the story to make us think about this hard choice. He made many diffucult choices in the book. He is trying to show us how he felt durring thous times. I think Ishmale is sort of happy he chose the way he lived because he is alive, but I also think he regrets being a part of war.I think he could have made different choices but the chances of him surviving are slim.

  2. I think he ended the story to make to leave us with a something to think about. We will probably never have to experience what he went though. I think that Ishmael is kind of happy with his life, but I think that he is still scarred by his past memories. He could have made different choices, but he might not have been able to survive to write his book.
