Cousin

Do you understand the cousin's choice to split from the group and try to find her mother? Why does Molly first go on without her, but then return?

  1. I understand her choice to go and find her mother. If you think about it she was away from home and hadn't seen her mom in many months and she was very young. Almost any little kid or child would want their mom, excpecially when they're scared and tired.
After she walks to the train station she realizes she has no idea what to do next, so she decides that she needs her cousin.

  2. I understand why she wanted to go to her mother because she didn't travel all that way to not see her. Molly was smart to not trust the man who told them the train was leaving but Molly knew that she needed them.

  3. I understand why she went back to her mother because she wants to see her more and would feel safer with her too. Molly goes on without her because she thinks she'll follow and she doesn't want the man to see them all going, also I think she was trying to proove that the man was a lyer. She goes to the station because she feels that they'll take her.

  4. I understand the cousins choice. She just wanted to see her mom and was exhausted from walking and starvation. At first Molly goes on without her because she knew the man was lying and was maybe a little annoyed with her cousin. She went back because she loves her cousin and feels it was her responsibility to take care of her and bring her back to her mom.

  5. I understood her choice. She was just too tired to walk that far. I think Molly goes on because she understands this.

  6. She goes on without her cousin because she knows the man who tells her that she could go to the train station and see her mother was just trying to catch them for money. Then she comes back because she wants to have her cousin come join her, but she got caught.

  7. I don't understand the cousins choice to split from the group. I think Molly would have made sure that she got back to her mother.
I think Molly went on first without her because she thinks that her cousin will follow after thinking for a while. I think she returns because she wants to make sure her cousin gets back to her mother.

  8. I truly understood her decision. I obviously wouldn't have done the same thing, but I can see where she is coming from. I wouldn't want to travel over 1000 miles and not be able to see my mom. The other girls are traveling back home and get to see their actually parents. The cousin is staying with them to stay safe, but she doesn't get to see her mom. The other girls tried to stop her and thought she would come with.

  9. I understand why she did, because she thought that she could see her mom again. Though she didn't think it through very well because she got caught

  10. I understand the cousin's decision. She was so homesick and just wanted to see her mother. I think that she felt a little bit of hope in herself when she heard that her mother was nearby. I believe that Molly went on without her at first because she thought that her cousin would soon follow, and change her mind about leaving. I think that Molly went back because she realized that her cousin wasn't going to change her mind.

  12. I support the cousins decision mainly because thats probably what i would've done in a situatioin like that. Molly goes without her first and then comes back because she changes her mind.

  13. I think the girl wanted to see her mother and wanted to get there the easy way thru train.I think molly just didn't want to put up with her cousin's stubborness and just left her left.

  15. No. I think she should have stayed in the group, after they got to her aunt it would have been easier to find her mom. Molly realizes this so goes on then, goes back to stop this fate.

  16. I can understand her cousins choice to go after her mother, but I think she should have stayed with the group. I think at first Molly was mad but then she realised she had to go back and try and save her.

  17. I do understand her decision. She was home sick and missed her mom terribly. I think she just felt hope that the train would lead her to her mom. I htink Molly left without her because she thought the man was lieing and did'nt want to get caught, but she returned because she did'nt want her to get hurt. She was just looking out for her.

  18. I think the cousin really wanted to see her mom and she probably thought it would be faster to take the trian. Molly left her because she knew that guy was lying to them. I think when Molly turned around to go get her cousin is because she felt guilty for leaving her by herself, and she probably thought it was all her fault if she lost her cousin.

  20. I think I understand why she wanted to go. I think that Molly was annoyed and didn't agree with the others. One girl believed the man but the others wanted to stick with the original plan. When they met up at the train station they relized they couldn't split up and stay safe.

  21. I think that the cousin would be better of taking the train and that it would be quicker and safer, when really it was a set up. Once she got there she realized that she needed Molly and probably was scared and wasn't sure to do next.

  22. I understand her decision. She wanted to be with her mother again and would go anywhere to find her. I also understand why Molly left without her and returned. She left her to try to make a point and she returned because she didn't want her cousin to go anywhere without her and possibly be caught.

  24. The girl believed the man and went to go find her mother. I think that Molly left because she thought that she would follow her, but when she didn't she went back and found her.

  25. I can see why she would leave the others to try to get to her mother. she thought that that way would be shorter to ride a train. Molly goes on because she thnks that her sister is smart enough to fallow her. She comes back because they are family, and they want her to be safe.

  26. I understand her choice. She would feel safer with her mom. The reason she went back was because I thought she felt bad and she had to look out for her family.

  27. I can see why she kept going and didn't listen to the man. She came back later because she knew that the men were going to capture her.

  28. I understand why Gracie decided to go off on her on way. She may have felt that they were going in the wrong direction or would get caught. I think Molly keeps walking and goes on without her because she probably assumes she will catch up eventually and that Gracie just needed time to think. Molly might have kept walking also because she didn't have time to care what way she was going. Molly thought she was right and she was because she didn't get caught.

  29. The cousin left the group because she had just heard news of her mom for the first time in a long while, and she would do anything for her. The older cousin starts walking away to see if her cousin will come back, but she does not, so the older cousin follows her so they can stick together.

  30. I understand her choice of going to find her mother. She had been away from home for a very long time. She was home-sick and needed her mother. I think that the reason Molly kept walking was to give her cousin space and time to think about the choice she was about to make. I think she goes back because she relizes that Gracie is not following. Also i think that Molly goes back because she doesn't want Gracie's death or any kind of accident to be her fault.
